PRIVACY POLICY

LAST UPDATED: 26 AUGUST 2026

This policy explains what information is collected when you use WE ARE RUGBY, how it is used, and the choices you have. We have written it in plain English and kept it to what the website actually does.

INFORMATION COLLECTED AUTOMATICALLY

You do not need an account to play. We do not ask you for your name, email address or other personal contact details in order to use the games.

When you visit the site, standard technical information is collected automatically by our hosting and analytics providers. This can include your approximate location (derived from your IP address by those providers), device and browser type, screen size, operating system, the pages you view and the time of your visit.

GOOGLE ANALYTICS 4

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the website is used. Google Analytics sets its own identifiers so it can recognise returning browsers and measure sessions.

We do not send names, email addresses or other directly identifying information to Google Analytics. Google processes this data as our analytics provider, subject to its own terms and privacy policy.

COOKIES AND SIMILAR TECHNOLOGIES

Cookies, local storage and similar technologies are used to make the site work and to measure usage. Some are set by us and some by third parties such as Google.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some parts of the site may not behave as expected if you do.

WEBSITE USAGE AND INTERACTION DATA

We record which pages are viewed, how visitors move between them, and general engagement signals such as session length. This is used in aggregate to improve the product.

GAME INTERACTION ANALYTICS

When you play a blind ranking challenge, anonymous events are recorded so we can see how the games perform. These include opening a challenge, starting a game, assigning a player to a ranking position, completing a game, tapping share or challenge-a-mate, and starting another challenge.

These events carry non-identifying details such as the challenge name, the challenge identifier, the ranking position chosen and the share method used. They are not linked to your identity.

REFERRAL AND CAMPAIGN INFORMATION

Where available, we record how you arrived at the site — for example the referring website, whether you followed a shared challenge link, and any campaign tags (such as UTM parameters) in the URL. This tells us which channels bring rugby fans to the site.

SHARING FUNCTIONALITY

The share features use your device's own sharing tools, your clipboard, or a local image download. Shared links and generated ranking images are created on your device.

Once you share something, the platform you share to (for example a messaging app or social network) handles that content under its own privacy policy.

GOOGLE ADSENSE AND ADVERTISING TECHNOLOGIES

The Google AdSense script is present on the site for verification purposes. No ad placements or auto ads are currently enabled.

If and when advertising is enabled, Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve and measure ads, potentially including personalised advertising, subject to their own policies. You can review and adjust Google's ad settings through Google's own ad preference controls.

THIRD-PARTY SERVICE PROVIDERS

We rely on third parties to run the site, including hosting and content delivery, analytics (Google Analytics), and advertising technology (Google AdSense). These providers may use cookies or similar technologies and process data under their own privacy policies, which we do not control.

HOW INFORMATION MAY BE USED

  • To operate, maintain and secure the website.
  • To understand which challenges and features fans enjoy.
  • To diagnose faults and improve performance.
  • To measure the effect of campaigns and shared links.
  • To support advertising, if and when it is enabled.
  • To meet legal obligations where they apply.

We do not sell your personal information.

DATA RETENTION

Analytics and advertising data is retained by the relevant provider according to that provider's retention settings and policies. We do not operate a separate personal-data archive of visitors, and we keep information only as long as it is useful for the purposes described here or required by law.

YOUR PRIVACY CHOICES AND RIGHTS

You can block or clear cookies, use your browser's private mode, use a browser or extension that blocks analytics and advertising scripts, and adjust Google's advertising preferences.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or erase personal information held about you, or to object to certain processing. For privacy enquiries, please contact us through our Contact page and we will respond as required by applicable law.

INTERNATIONAL USERS

WE ARE RUGBY is available worldwide. The providers we use may process and store data in countries other than your own, including where their servers are located. By using the site you understand that this cross-border processing takes place.

CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

The site is intended for a general rugby-following audience and is not directed at young children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us through our Contact page and we will take appropriate steps.

CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this policy as the site develops — for example if advertising is enabled or new features are added. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the current version.
